By Staff

Still I Rise celebrated its 9th Annual Back 2 School Supply Giveaway on Saturday, August 8, bringing families together at the Train Depot – Hill Side Stage in Kankakee for an afternoon of fun, resources and community support.
From 2 to 5 p.m., local families received backpacks filled with school supplies, free food and beverages, along with opportunities to participate in giveaways. Children enjoyed a bounce house, games, music, a live DJ, face painting, hair braiding and other activities.

The event also featured food trucks, entertainment and resource vendors connecting families with valuable community services as students prepare to return to school.

The annual giveaway reflects Still I Rise’s continued commitment to supporting local families and helping children begin the school year prepared and confident.
Tocarra Eldridge, executive director of Still I Rise, expressed appreciation to the volunteers, sponsors, donors, community partners and media outlets whose contributions helped make the event possible.
